MUSIC djTake5 Take5, has become an urban legend, as he is also well known for his unique contributions to the local Hip-Hop graffiti and music scene. After surviving a devastating accident in 1995, Mikeal was left a paraplegic. Unwilling to have his spirits dampened by this accident, Take5 aspired to become equally as successful in the music scene as he had done in the art world. Eventually Take5 began being heard around Vancouver : Take5 was now not just a graffiti name, but one that represented Vancouver's independent music culture. He is one among the first Vancouver DJs to produce instrumental HIP-HOP recordings, and is recognized for his unique style of combining both ubiquitous and esoteric genres of music. His music is reflective of his personal struggle, and combines the hard edges of Hip-Hop music, with the serene textures of ambience to create an emotional soundscape that is constantly animated.
